Education Secretary Paige Quits!

Into The Sunset
One of the Bush Administration's most controversial cabinet secretaries has decided to call it quits. Education Secretary Rod Paige has informed the White House that he intends to resign, possibly as early as next week. Paige was instrumental in the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act.

Paige sparked much controversy in the Education Community when he called the National Education Association a, "Terrorist organization." Now anyone that reads the 'Wonks at all knows that we are no friend of the NEA. However, we think that Paige's label was inaccurate.

The 'Wonks believe that the NEA is a legalized syndicate that continuously raises dues, forcibly withholds money from teachers' paychecks, shovels large amounts of cash to Democratic Party candidates, and advocates leftist social-engineering. Oh yes, and the NEA doesn't bother to ask its members what they think about any of this. Maybe an even better label for the NEA would be "La Cosa Nostra."

We wish Mr. Paige well.
