Say It Ain't So Bill

One of our teaching faculty, Leather Penguin, is reporting that Bill O'Reilly is being accused of sexually harassing a co-worker at Fox News. Penguin's information comes from a copy of the complaint, which was filed today in a New York courtroom. On his site, Penguin supplies a link to a copy of the complaint.

O'Reilly's accuser is a 33 year old female employee.

We here at the Education Wonks have very mixed feelings regarding Bill O'Reilly. While EdWonk has been a fan of O'Reilly's radio show, neither TeachWonk nor TeenWonk particularly care for Mr. O'Reilly.

The EdWonk hopes that these accusations are not true, but if it is, then O'Reilly (and his bank account) is about to be Educated. As Bill O'Reilly will soon be distracted by his legal troubles, it will also distract him from an issue that all of us here at The Education Wonks feel is of vital importance. That issue is security of our nation's borders.

The Education Wonks have always supported Bill O'Reilly's advocacy of increasing our border's security, as the relatively undefended borders represent a direct threat not only to children that reside in border areas, but every person in the United States.

The EdWonk can personally certify that the borders are nearly wide open at the present time. In spite of much noise that has been emitted from several administrations in Washington, little seems to actually get done to tighten border security in order to prevent infiltration by terrorists on both the northern and southern frontiers.

This refusal to take border security seriously is a "ticking time bomb" as terrorists, by their very nature, seek to infiltrate the "weak point" of any target that they plan to attack.

And at this moment, that weakest point is our borders.
