CNN Crows For Kerry

CNN is crowing that John Kerry has taken the lead in the polls.

They are reporting:

49% Kerry
48% Bush
1% Nader

Of course this poll was taken before John Kerry referred to the reduction of terrorism to a "nuisance" as a war aim.

And what CNN does not want to say is that polls like the above do not matter. It is the state-by-state Electoral College Vote that determines the Presidency, and in that poll, the President still enjoys a slim lead.

Even though the EdWonk is no friend of the Donks, he would still like to see the Electoral College go the way of some other quaint but unnecessary reminders of the past: wood-burning cookstoves, butter churns, horse-drawn buggies, and the telegraph.
