Every Parent's Nightmare: Mary Kay LeTourneau

And If She Had Been A Man?
For some inexplicable reason, CNNs Larry King has invited convicted child molester and ex-teacher Mary Kay LeTourneau to be a guest on his program Monday evening. (Show begins 9:00 PM Eastern.) It is unknown at this time if her victim will also be appearing.

The notorious LeTourneau has been out of prison for several weeks after serving a seven year term for the molestation of her 12 year old student. Since her release, she has made several television appearances. On September 24th, she was a guest on CNNs "Anderson Cooper 360" program where she insinuated that her 12 year old victim was to blame for the molestation. Said LeTourneau, "He was very aggressive."

Could all these media appearances be some sort of public relations campaign designed to soften her image? Perhaps in advance of a book deal? Or a "made for TV movie?" There must be some reason for all the publicity. If there is a deal in the works, then LeTourneau may be positioning herself to profit from her crimes.

There is something that we can do as parents to send LeTourneau (and those that rationalize her behavior) a message. And that is to place a large volume of calls to the Larry King Show with questions for LeTourneau.

We hope that several of our readers (or us) are able to breach King's elaborate call screening apparatus and get through in order to Educate this woman and ask her the questions that need to be asked.

Mary Kay LeTourneau should be returned to the obscurity that she so richly deserves.
