On The Road Again!

The Wonk Family is in transit to our place in the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina. The roadtrip itself is 2,164 miles and given good weather and no surprises, we should arrive late Sunday evening or early Monday morning at our forest home near Tamassee, South Carolina. Stopping only for fuel and food-to-go, the trip takes about 36 hours.

Among other communities, we should be passing through: Yuma, Tucson, Las Cruces, El Paso, Odessa, Abilene, Dallas, Shreveport, Jackson, Birmingham, and Atlanta.

They'll be a lot of bad food but we'll get to see many beautiful places along the way.

Our favorite stops have always been
Rooster Cogburn's Ostrich Ranch near Tucson and the view of the Mississippi River from the bluffs of Vicksburg.

We'll also get to see if they've finished painting that house in Kent, Texas.

I've always enjoyed the Christmas trip. We get to see much of the country in its finest holiday lights and in a holiday mood to boot.

Each time we take to the road, I have a secret fear that the trip will turn into some variant of
this motion picture.
