In Maryland, more students are bringing their own weapons to school. The reasons are a little unclear.

1. Are more students bringing weapons in order to commit criminal assault upon their classmates?

2. Are more students 'packing weapons because they feel a need to be able to defend themselves from the better-armed criminal element? Is it because they think that the school is either unwilling or unable to protect them?

3. Some administrators are saying that the increase is simply due to more weapons being detected by school authorities. Could that be the reason?
Take your pick.
