Fun With Statistics: High Stakes Testing

Here's an interesting link to a table that shows the number of states that have a "must pass" high school exit exam as of 2004. There are twenty states that have these high-stakes assessments. All have competency tests in English and math, 10 have components that assess science knowledge, 9 in social studies, and 1, North Carolina, has a sub-test that measures students' computer literacy.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the states grant any dispensation for students who have been displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
