For All Those Who Have An Interest In California's Schools

Joanne Jacobs.com has the important story of how Democrats in California's legislative assembly are seriously discussing either repealing or watering down the state's much-delayed high school exit exam. Since the Democratic Party controls the Assembly, they have our closest attention.

We are interested not only as California educators, but also as the parents of a child who will be entering the ninth grade at a California high school this year:
The general thrust of their argument is that it's just not fair to hold students accountable, to make their diploma mean something more than just a certificate proving that they attended school for 12 years. Especially if the schools they attended were not perfect, or were not funded as well as some would like.
