Say It Isn't So...

Taking a page from the same business model that gave us New Coke and watered-down Jack Daniels Whiskey, Warner Brothers is changing the look (we would say destroying) of the much-beloved cartoon characters that we all grew-up with.

Wile E. Coyote, Tazmanian Devil, Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny, Road Runner, and, worst of all, Bugs Bunny have been "updated" by Warner Brothers as some sort of cheap-looking angular mutations of the originals.

The excuse offered by the studio is that the characters needed to be changed in order to appeal to a younger, more "sophisticated" audience. The updated disfigured 'toons are to debut in a show called "Loonatics," that is set in the year 2772. The basic idea is that these are the descendents of the original cartoon characters.

We are glad that
Mel Blanc didn't live to see this sacrilege...
