Today's Idiocy In Education Award

Today's Idiocy in Education Award goes to The Internal Revenue Service for fining a one-room school $10,000 because of an error of less than $40..

The school in rural Bayard, Nebraska, has only one teacher, and is one of the few one-room school houses left in the country.

Apparently, the school's accountant made an error of $3.25 on each quarterly tax-return from 2000 to 2002.

The Internal Revenue Service wants its money, all $10,000 dollars of it.

In an effort to raise the cash, the school is trying to sell its 1985 Chevrolet van. The asking price is $3000, and was it used to take the school's eight students on field trips.

The public is being asked to contribute the remaining $7000.

Thanks for nothing, Internal Revenue Service.
