British Teacher Tells School Assembly World To End

Target Earth...
Here at the 'Wonks, we know that everyone makes mistakes. (We've made plenty.) But what on Earth (sorry) was this un-named British school teacher thinking when she told a school assembly of 250 junior high school age kids that a meteor is coming and everyone is going to die in 10 days?

The teacher said that students should go home and say their "final farewells" to their loved ones.

The kids believed it. There was much crying, and tears all around. The teacher quickly corrected herself, and apologized. (Which was all she could do.) We can only imagine what the conversation was like in her Principal's office.
