Extra Credit Reading: Tuesday, November 14, 2006

Heh. Computer magnate Bill Gates says that the U.S. education system "Needs work." (We guess that He would know; the EdSystem needs to be re-booted just like the machines that His programming controls...) On the other hand, the man did just give some $15 million to help California's schools...

There's been a rash of student suicides in Japan. The surprising cause?
Bullying.

Sadly, we no longer manufacture very much here in the United States, but it seems like those who do want their young people
to be educated here. (How's that for irony?)

The Wanker of the Day Award
is shared by 3 individuals from the same Kentucky school district: middle school teacher Helen Hesch and her school board-member husband Jim were arrested and charged with giving alcohol to minors in their home while high school teacher Brandon Hall was busted by police after being videotaped rolling a joint marijuana cigarette with students on the Hesch's front porch.

Ewww! How on Earth could these Florida schools
have been allowed to become so nasty in the first place? Who is responsible and where's the accountability?
