Mr. Luna's Opus

Mr. Luna, a middle school teacher at Robert Moses Middle School in North Babylon, New York, would like Oprah Winfrey's help in getting Americans to replace several million incandescent light bulbs with something more energy efficient:
"I would like to give every child in America just one compact fluorescent bulb. This will help stop global warming by cutting our carbon emissions, and will also save us at least $2.3 billion in electricity costs over the life of the bulbs.

Please use my blog to gain more information and to see how you can help by sending a letter to Oprah! "
Visit Mr. Luna's blog, with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions on how to help, right here and see Mr. Luna's picture over there.

We hope that Mr. Luna is successful in his quest. In this fifth winter since the attacks of September 11, 2001, anything that can be done to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of energy is in the national interest.

Of course, Oprah could do her part by setting the rest of us an example in how to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. She could "ground" her own
energy-wasting environment-polluting private jet and urge that other globe-trotting celebrities and business leaders do the same.

Didn't somebody recently say that this nation is "at war?"
