Your Tax Dollars Gone Hog-Wild!

How would you like to be in the shoes of the advertising executive who created this innovative ad campaign? Or worse, the U.S. Department of Energy functionary who went ahead and authorized cutting the check to help sponsor it?

Oh well... over at the site they do have some resources for teachers and a couple of games that kiddies of all ages may enjoy playing.

I can just imagine it now: Thousands of eager students (ages 6-13) who have been deputized as "Energy Hog Busters" being sent home from hundreds of schools to execute their assigned missions of pointing out to energy hogs parents where they are wasting energy.

Let the annoying begin!

I realize that in these troubled times we really should be teaching our students to conserve energy in order to reduce our dependency on foreign oil, but couldn't the Ad Council and it's sponsoring government agencies have found a more effective medium for communicating the message?

On a more positive note, at least I did learn a new use for the term "oinker." And some of the characters do seem to be a little cute. Perhaps I can use one of those little piggies to represent our district's superintendent, Dr. Evil.
