Our midsized school district in California's "Imperial" Valley has a lie printed on every single one of the job applications that it receives from hopeful applicants. Here it is:

"The ____ Elementary School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer."
In a district where the spouses, relatives, and cronies of administrators seem to be guaranteed jobs, there is usually only one candidate in the applicant pool.

I just feel sorry for the poor unsuspecting saps unfortunate people who often drive or fly hundreds of miles in order to attend job interviews that have pre-determined outcomes.
